Jolly little romp, totally improbable and it has no illusions that it is otherwise.
Totally good fun just what to watch after a crap day at the office.
Now I'm going to have to check out other films about this tongue in cheek super hero.
Watch enjoy and forget for a while the mess we are all in.

The other 3 Starman films were made up of two episodes each, with a single story arc. THIS one was bashed together out of three episodes, each with a seperate story arc. Notice that the disfigured scientist is never in the same scene as the evil brain. The director of the first three movies (six episodes) quit before this one (three) was made, due to being upset because some Darwin Award runner-up made a Starman costume and jumped out a window. Hopefully he crushed his nads and is removed from the gene pool.
Four stars for the awfullness of it all. The other three get five.

Of the three Starman adventures I've seen, this romp has the most disjointed plot, which I assume is the result of cramming together two episodes. And while the production values are good, they aren't at the level of the first two movies. However these things are more than compensated for by having outrageous monsters - demon mutants out of Japanese nightmares. Of course Starman is still up to his hilariously impossible antics. So forget about trying to make sense out of the plot, and enjoy the ride.
FOOTNOTE: The missing Starman film, "Invaders From Space," is available on a DVD from the below source. ($7 USD, quality unknown) Just in case some kind uploader wants to take the plunge.

The council on the planet Emerald is again concerned that radiation emanating from Earth will pollute the universe, so Starman is sent to stop Balisar's brain from conquering Earth, meant to be preparatory to a nuclear attack from his home planet, Zeemar. Convoluted, huh? The evil brain is accompanied by other, corporeal, Zumarians under its control. The Zumarians, generally costumed like superheroes, create mutants who are the thugs in this movie, and create the means to wipe out human life by germ warfare.
Mutants are easy to spot. They're either outlandishly costumed or when dressed conventionally, wear heavy makeup. The most dangerous mutant Starman battles exhales nuclear vapor, and a slash from its fingernails could kill him! Starman isn't seen flying very much in this, with good reason. Wires and wire harness parts are generally visible when he does. The fight scenes are great fun, and the best parts of these movies. Particularly funny is a short scene that brought to mind early Jerry Lewis or Curly Joe Dorita style comical fighting, in which two mutants out to kill two orphans throw darts that look very much like toothpicks at Starman, which he easily swats away. Orphans play less of a role in this movie than in Atomic Rulers Of The World, pretty much disappearing early on, until they're brought back for the triumphant closing scene.
I downloaded the 1.7GB MPEG2 file. Video and audio quality were fine.
